I am Director of Music at Toorak Uniting Church, Toorak. I am organ tutor for the Melbourne High School. I had taught the pipe organ for the Australian Catholic University. As a concert organist, I regularly give concerts both in Australia and abroad. I have performed as a recitalist in venues such as Notre-Dame de Paris, Westminster Abbey, St Gilles Edinburgh, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide Town Halls, Sydney University, and in cathedrals in Australia and New Zealand.
With trombonist Joseph Yu, we also give trombone and organ duo concerts. Our performances have received high acclaims. Locally, we have performed at the Ballarat Goldfields Music Festival.
Some highlights of my solo performances:
2008: Adelaide, Recitals Australia (complete Livre du Saint-Sacrement by Olivier Messiaen).
2009: Melbourne Town hall (world premiere of ‘The end of the illusion – an epitaph to Jean Baudrillard’ commissioned by the City of Melbourne, composed by Australian composer David Chisholm).
2010: Elder Conservatorium, Adelaide presented by the Organ Music Society (Drittel Teil der Clavierübung by J.S. Bach)
2010: Adelaide Town Hall: solo recital.
2016, International Bamboo Organ Festival, Las Pinas (The Philippines).
I hold a Master of Music degree in organ performance and Performance Certificate with Honors from Northwestern University (USA) where my teacher was Wolfgang Rübsam.
I furthered my studies in France in organ performance and obtained the prix d’excellence and prix de virtuosité à l’unanimité avec les félicitations du jury in the organ class of Susan Landale at the Conservatoire National de Region de Rueil-Malmaison in Paris. I specialized in French Baroque and North German repertoire with Michel Bouvard and Jan Willem Jansen at the Centre d’ Etudes Supérieures de Musique et Danse in Toulouse and obtained the Premier Prix a l’unanimite. I competed in international competitions and won ‘Special Mention’ in the Biarritz International Organ Competition in France.
I studied the harpsichord with Joyce Lindorf, Wolfgang Rübsam, Jan Willem Jansen, both harpsichord and fortepiano with Yasuko Bouvard-Umaya.
As a piano player, I have ATCL in piano performance. While I was studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I studied the piano with Teresita Botelho, and the organ with a Samuel Tong. I also studied piano accompanying at Northwestern University (USA) with Dr Laurence Davis.
