The World Expo 88 in Brisbane; Asia Pacific Festival in New Zealand, 1992; Bondi Pavilion South American Festival, 1988-2004; WOMAD Festival in Adelaide (1992/94); Festival of Sydney (1990/2004); further concerts in Brazil, Europe, Australia, USA, Canada, South Africa, New Caledonia and New Zealand.
RECENT INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENTS: Rio de Janeiro (2013) CCJF cultural space performing with music teacher and 1st harpist “Vanja” Ferreira of symphonic ‘Orquestra Sinfônica Nacional’ (OSN-UFF).
Jerônimo Santos Da Silva, the artiste known as “Mestre Jeronimo”, was born and raised in the Amazon region. He grew up within the culture of Capoera and achieved national volleyball rank in Brazil. Living among several languages and cultures in Brasil, Europe, and Australia he gained knowledge of Brazilian, French, Spanish, English, German, and Italian idioms. He spent over 20 years working as a full time and part-time bassist in symphonic orchestras, in Brazil and Australia, and has been a member and conductor in classical choirs and traditional vocal ensembles.
The artist is qualified to: singing, recorder, guitar, bass, piano, percussion, drum and gumbark/didgeridoo; recording and programming employing music notation editors and Logic Pro digital audio workstation and sound effects.
Jeronimo’s schooling in Brazil included music teachers: Joao Maciel (guitar), George Geszti-student of Béla Bartók (recorder and theory), Dirson Costa and Levino Alcantara-students of Villa Lobos (choir and orchestra), Tony Botelho, Sandrino Santoro and Guido Bianchi (bass), Nelson Aires and Roberto Sion (jazz).
Ever since living in Australia, he spent his time sharing concerts and education in conjunction with Mike Nock, Riley Lee, Mark Atkins, Mike Ryan, Jane Butler Andino, Monica Trapaga, Steve Reeves, Kees Boersma, Guy Strazullo, Miroslav Bukovsky, Leon Gaer, Gordon Rytmeister, Fabian Hevia, and Don Burrows, among other artists.
