John Keene

John Keene is currently Associate Principal Double Bass with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. In 2018, he was Associate Principal Double Bass with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. He was an ACO Emerging Artist in 2017 and was the youngest person ever to be awarded the Sydney Symphony Fellowship in 2015, since its inception. He was reawarded this in 2016. In 2018, John graduated with a Bachelor of Music Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying under Alex Henery. John has participated in several Australian Youth Orchestra programs from 2013-2015, received his LMusA with Distinction in 2012, participated in the Australian Chamber Orchestra Academy in 2012 and 2013, and many other youth and community orchestras since 2010. John has received his AMusA in piano in 2010 and has been accompanying since then. He was also awarded 1st prize U18 viola/cello/double bass in the McDonald's Performing Arts Eisteddfod.
