Hi there
I teach all styles of bass playing for all ages 8 to 80 in my home studio. I will tailor lessons to your desire; be it…‘I want to learn this song now!!’ through to ‘let’s do scales and theory’. If you don’t have a preference I have a structured approach and supporting materials that include a mix of theory and learning songs.
As an experienced cover band performer from the USA (11 years) and Australia (20 years) I can help with budding new players wanting to get into their first band. We can talk about topics such as:
1/ How do I approach learning songs quickly
2/ How do I approach having stage notes
3/ How do I record myself and my band
4/ How do I perform video editing and prepare a website to showcase my style
5/...and much much more !
I have many online free lessons on YouTube such as:

...So you can get a bit of an idea about my approach
And you can read more about me, listen to some recordings ,watch a few videos and follow my blog at www.Jonrandall.com
I am happy to offer the first lesson for free and can help out even if you don’t have a bass and have never played an instrument. (I have 'loaner' basses and amps that beginning students can take with them for no charge for the first 4 weeks until they buy their own instrument or if you want you can continue to keep the loaner bass/amp combination for $10 a month until you get your own set-up). Because I am offering private bass lessons I am not restricted by hard and fast 30 minute or 1 hour time slots. Assuming you have the time, my lessons can extend up to 2 hours depending on what we are working on and your time but I only charge for the first hour. You can ask any of my current students and they will tell you what awesome value it is.
At least half my students; past and current are those who have never played an instrument before. Current students in the USA include an award winning author and the Dean of media studies at Washington University (both students enjoy lessons via Skype) since I moved back to Australia. Both these ladies picked up the bass in their 50's and as part of my commitment to their development I have had them play live with my own band (in the USA).
My 'in person' students in Australia include beginner and intermediate players of all ages. As part of my approach to practical learning I am currently helping students with specific projects such as:
1/ Learning songs for their own band'
2/ Putting together bass lines for their bands original compositions
3/ Getting ready to audition for a band.
Please note that in these COVID times - myself and all household members are fully vaccinated).
Drop me an email (randaj38@mac.com) and we can chat or even line up a Skype, FaceTime or zoom call and we can talk about what you, a friend or a child might be looking for in a bass teacher
Cheers jon
