Current Pre-Service Teacher: studying Master of Teaching. I have a Bachelor of Music as well as graded classical piano (Grade 8), WWC, Nationally Coordinated Police Clearance Check.
I use a combination of aural and rote learning to build strong musical foundations and technical ability while keeping music learning fun and accessible. We transition to note reading somewhere between 3 to 12 months, depending on when the student is ready. All teaching is informed by current and past music education research.
