In her final year studying Clarinet at The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Judy has been working as a freelance theatre musician extensively for the past 5 years and has experience doubling on Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet in Musical Theatre Productions. She also has an abundance of orchestral experience in playing with the Melbourne Youth Wind Symphony, Melbourne University Wind Symphony, and a variety of Opera Companies such as The Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
Judy absolutely loves teaching. She has been doing so privately for 4 years, and is now also working within a school environment also. She is passionate about teaching beginner-intermediate level musicians, and enjoys passing on her love of the craft to anyone who has the desire to learn.
Judy adapts to each student’s learning styles, whether that be preparing for AMEB or VCE examinations in order to keep them focussed and driven, or just playing tunes that they enjoy and want to learn. It really varies with each student.
Judy always tries to make the learning environment as enjoyable and fun as possible, she will use a variety of books and techniques to keep younger children engaged in learning while still ensuring they learn musical elements such as rhythm & note recognition, sound production, posture, and sight reading.
