BIO:
I have recently completed a Bachelor of Jazz Performance (Saxophone) on scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, specialising in jazz improvisation and arranging/composition. My main instrument is the Tenor Saxophone, doubling on alto and flute as well as having strong foundations in piano playing. I have had extensive performance experience as a sideman having had the opportunity to accompany some of Sydney’s leading Jazz musicians including Warwick Alder and Andrew Dickeson as well as internationally recognised musicians including Nick Smart (UK), Florian Ross(GER) and Harry Connick Jr (US). I have also lead my own projects including the “ Justin Yeo Quartet”, featuring various artists throughout the series. Recently I concluded 2 years of private study with internationally recognised saxophonist Will Vinson (NYC). I am also a current member of the Australian National Youth Jazz Orchestra 2024.
I have over 7 years of teaching woodwinds and musicianship, with over 50 individual private students over the years and many more students through group tutorials. I also specialise in Jazz improvisation and ensemble playing. I currently lead the Junior and Intermediate Jazz ensembles at Sydney Boys Selective High School.
I offer saxophone lessons in the northern suburbs (Sydney), as well as offering online lessons to those restricted due to COVID or travel complications.
