Justin has a Masters Degree in Instrumental Music Education and is also a fully accredited woodwind teacher with the Music Teachers’ Association of NSW. He also has performance diplomas in clarinet from the AMEB and Trinity College London. He has over 25 years of woodwind teaching experience in schools and in his own private music studio.
Justin is an active orchestral and chamber music performer with many groups, more recently with those based in the Central West of NSW. He performs with the Macquarie Philharmonia, Bathurst Chamber Orchestra, Orange Symphony and various pit orchestra for musical theatres. He plays professionally on oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon regularly throughout the year.
Justin is a popular and successful school concert band and community concert band conductor. He conducts schools bands in Forbes, Parkes and Dubbo as well as many smaller schools such as Tullamore, Tottenham and Trangie. His school groups regularly win prizes at local eisteddfods and his community bands are very active in their local communities.
Justin works well with both young beginners just starting out and with advanced students preparing higher grades or the HSC. He is also a popular teacher for those older students, retired and coming to music later in life, or those returning to play their beloved instruments after a long break! Several of his students have now gone on to study tertiary level music at university, both in performance and in music education.
