I’m passionate about music being available to all children and helping them find their voice. I started playing at 12 (later than most and it is possible which is why I also have a fair few adult students I teach during the day), went to Marryatville High and studied at The Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2008. I play professionally and my focus is mainly on my string quartet, which I perform and rehearse with regularly, however, I am versed on orchestral playing and solo. I am available to teach beginner through to intermediate only, however, my partner, Thomas Marlin (profile on here) is an accomplished cellist and also teaches advanced students from our home studio so as the children develop, the idea is to send them through.
Not only am I a cellist, but I am a mum to two little girls (aged 7 and 9) and raised them alone for a couple of years as babies, my mum was also a single mum growing up. I understand the pressures of raising children, the sacrifice involved in that and how as a parent, I want to provide them with the best opportunities to succeed in life. I believe music is a valuable tool for growth and development and it’s not always widely accessible when it should be. I would love to work with talented young kids who may not have those opportunities and help them on this journey of self-discovery through music.
