I love playing violin, and I love teaching, seeing students grow in skill, confidence, and enjoyment. I am passionate about the best ways of learning, and helping students meet their own unique challenges along the way.
I teach students who want to learn for fun, but also help the more ambitious to progress through the AMEB examinations. Whatever the reason for learning, I always focus on building a strong violin technique, and incorporate musicianship and music theory from the first lessons.
Mostly I teach one-on-one so that I can respond to the uniqueness of each student. At the same time I’m a GREAT believer in playing music with other musicians and performing. So I help students partner up, or provide opportunities for ensemble playing. And I provide performance opportunities through studio concerts, soirees, Devonshire tea and music under the trees…..
Lastly to very young learners….. I’m often asked about the earliest age for children to start learning music. It depends on the child, and it depends on the teacher. I have developed learning material that keeps children moving forward musically, and keeps their eyes shining with joy. If you have a young one who is keen to learn violin and you’d like to encourage their interest, ring me to discuss.
