Katie Rutledge is a Lyric soprano and cross-over artist that brings a wealth of knowledge to students wanting to learn and navigate the music industry as a profession. Katie has been teaching and performing with Opera Queensland and throughout Australia for the past 25 years, and is recognised as a sought-after Music/Vocal Adjudicator for Blues-fest Busking Byron Bay, Qube Effect Brisbane and for NSW/Queensland Music Eisteddfods.
Katie's teaching experience in Voice, Drama and Music Education, has gained her employment throughout Northern NSW and South East Queensland in many schools including Kenmore High School, St Johns Woodlawn Lismore, Ballina Coast High School, Shearwater Steiner Mullumbimby, Cape Byron Steiner and Xavier Catholic High School. The studio also provides workshops to the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM) and Maclean Music Academy, to assist students in preparation for HSC and gaining entry to universities across Australia and Abroad.
Whilst teaching, Katie was employed as a guest lecturer by Griffith University and Southern Cross University to teach music education for Choral and Primary /Secondary Music Education and has won two state Choral fanfare competitions with her choirs.
Katie has many students that are nationally recognised as professional musicians and recording artists in the Australian Music industry and owns a recording studio in the Byron Hinterland region that promotes International and National talent.
Katie's approach to holistic teaching by creating vocal/songwriting programs for singers and musicians, especially for diverse learners and gifted and talented students, has become world-renowned. The Studio receives many requests from all over the country, UK and USA to provide tuition to students who are wanting to find their own voice in a creative and inclusive environment whether through Zoom, Google Teams or Face to Face teaching.
With the Studio’s experience and success in HSC Music, Katie’s students have consecutively received band 6 results over the past 12 years in the Northern Rivers and South East Queensland with the highest mark of 98%. This success has led the University of Queensland, Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, Sydney Conservatorium, NIDA and WAAPA, Jazz Music Institute Brisbane and Southern Cross University to allow the students prior entry into their chosen University.
