Hello, my name is Kelly Hou. I am first year university student as a graduate from the NSW State Specialist Music School, the Conservatorium High School. I am interested in teaching beginners, amateurs, high school and any aged students in piano playing and I am able to provide lessons in both English or Shanghainese
Starting the piano at the age of four, I have been training intensively and academically as a classical pianist and musician. I was accepted into the selective music school in 2014 and have been learning piano with the tertiary professors of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. I was awarded my AmusA in Piano Performance with distinction in 2015 and my LmusA in Piano Performance in 2018. I was also accepted into the Sydney Conservatorium Open Academy Rising Stars program for piano performance in 2018. Completing the HSC Music 2 Course as an accelerated student, I achieved a final score of 98/100 (Band 6). My performance also earned a solo in the ENCORE performance at the Opera House in 2019. I also completed the HSC Music Extension Course in 2019 with a final score of 49/50 and will also be performing as an ensemble player in ENCORE 2020 for various compositions.
I aim to educate students on the technical aspects of playing the piano while infusing an overall passion and enjoyment of music. Through the teaching of essential theory and playing technique, the students are able to develop their musicality while increasing their confidence in piano playing! I strive to enrich each student with a high level of musical ability and maturity and I am also an understanding teacher (if the student finds that piano is not their highest priority and it is just a hobby, I completely understand and will work with them at that speed and level).
With four years of extensive teaching experience, I have taught beginners starting from the age of four and I have also prepared students for AMEB exams across all grades with pass marks ranging from B to A . I am also currently teaching theory and the HSC Music courses to various students.
I am located in Ashfield and am available to teach Monday to Sunday in the afternoon. My rate is $60 an hour and I can teach younger students for half an hour or 45 minutes if that is more suitable. There is easy parking.
If you would like me to travel to your home, there will be an extra $5 dollar fee. If you would like a trial lesson, I will be able to provide a 30 minute trial lesson for $15 or a short 10-15 minute meetup and preview at my studio for free. Please contact me at 0449656885 if you have any enquiries or would like to start lessons!
