Kelsy De Prada

Kelsy De Prada is an emerging flute player from Melbourne, Victoria. Having just completed her double degree in Music (Flute Performance) and Arts (Japanese) at Monash University, where she studied on a scholarship, she is already employed as a professional musician with the Australian Army Band of Melbourne, at a leading independent school where she both teaches and directs ensembles, and has been contracted for an international tour to China in 2020 with Australian International Productions. Previous experiences include studies with Peter Sheridan (International Soloist), Prudence Davis (Principal Flute, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) and masterclasses with Wissam Boustany (International Soloist), Robert Fabbriciani (International Soloist) and Meg Stirling (Principal Flute, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra). She has performed as a soloist on numerous occasions, and worked with conductors such as Benjamin Northey, Tianyi Lu, Nicholas Carter, Jessica Cottis and Alexander Bridger. Passionate about education, she completed a Creative Learning Traineeship with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in 2018 in which she worked with international composer Paul Rissmann to deliver education workshops and has performed in the Melbourne Recital Centre's MusicPlay festival for families in consecutive years. Additionally, she can be heard on Brolga Recordings in recordings for student level concert band music. Kelsy is a strong believer in that every student is a unique individual with their own specific goals and learning styles, and caters to those styles. She has taught students of all ages and abilities, and incorporates aural training and theory into practical lessons. She has a Police Check, Working with Children's Check and is ABN registered.
