I hold a PhD (Music Performance) from Monash University, which I achieved by studying with a cellist in the New York Philharmonic. I also hold Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in Music Performance from the University of Melbourne, as well as Licentiate Diplomas from the AMEB (LMusA) and ABRSM (LRSM). I am a fully accredited member of the Victorian Music Teachers Association and hold a Master of Teaching degree from Deakin University.
I have taught cello to beginners of all ages, and up to university level. I have taught cello at Monash University, Universiti Tecknologi MARA (Malaysia), the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho (Brazil), Janet Clarke Hall (The University of Melbourne), Wesley College, Scotch College, Ballarat Grammar, as well as several other high schools and primary schools.
I am a casual cellist with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and I have performed in New York, China, Australia, Malaysia and Brazil. My playing has been broadcast on ABC Classic FM and 3MBS.
My work on cello pedagogy has been published by the American String Teacher Journal, and I presented at the 2016 International Society for Music Education conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
I recognise that every student is unique and has varying aspirations, and can adapt my teaching as necessary.
