Lani Gerbi

I am an effective and enthusiastic violin teacher with almost ten years of experience behind me. I strongly believe that learning music is an incredible thing to do for your confidence, memory, and coordination, and always strive to ensure that my students enjoy their learning.

I offer violin lessons that prioritise students' experience and confidence, as well as their technical development. I aim to ensure that students enjoy their lessons and feel empowered to learn and develop their skills. I firmly believe that students perform better when provided with consistent constructive instruction, rather than criticism, and always strive to help students recognise and celebrate their successes.

I specialise in teaching excellent technique, particularly for beginners, to ensure that students have a solid base on which to build as they progress. Too often, posture and technique are neglected early on, which can be difficult for students to correct later and may cause back pain and damage. Attention to detail in the early stages of learning makes sure that students can continue to play for as long as they like, without suffering unnecessary pain or discomfort.

I also have extensive experience teaching adults, especially adult beginners. I've taught new adults through to retirees, and can say with certainty that it's never too late to pick up the violin and learn new skills.

Additionally, I offer AMEB exam preparation up to fourth grade, theory tutoring, and even extra support for students studying music at school or playing in school ensembles.
