Lauren Yao

Hi! I'm Lauren, a graduate of Sydney Girls High School from the Class of 2020, currently in my 2nd year studying Dentistry at UQ. I am offering violin, piano, music theory and aural skills training lessons (packages available).

At school, I ranked 1st in Music 2 in Years 10, 11 and 12 and 1st in Music Extension. I've had over 10 years of experience on the piano and violin, allowing me to achieve AMusA in Years 10 and 11, and full marks for Music 2 and Music Extension performance. I also received an Encore nomination for my Music 2 composition. I was taught Music Theory and consistently trained in aural skills since I started my music studies.

I've participated in school and community orchestras during high school as an orchestra member and a soloist. I'm currently in the UQ Symphony Orchestra. I also regularly attended piano competitions and concerts, giving me extensive performance experience.

My involvement with orchestras, concerts, and competitions, along with my experience with high school music, has given me a well-rounded understanding of performance and aural technique, general knowledge of the different musical eras, and the composition process.
