Liam Buckley

Liam is a Newcastle based Musician and Composer. Graduating from University of Newcastle’s Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music, Majoring in Guitar Performance.

Liam has a decade of experience tutoring guitar and bass guitar. Over this time Liam has honed in on his tuition style and progressed his practice to new levels. Liam’s patience, passion and positive attitude flows through his lessons, helping his students reach their full musical potential. With a strong understanding of music theory, Liam's goal is to instil this through his lessons so students can develop their own unique form and style.

Since 2004 he has been studying, performing and composing original music. Liam has also performed with numerous different bands and is currently performing and writing for his band, Worst Actors, Tired Minds, Lover Lamp and Puka Pantha.

With a broad variety of musical interests from pop, hip-hop and jazz to heavier genres such as punk, metal and hardcore. Liam enjoys all characteristics of music and has a keen interest for exploring MIDI and other modern technologies in music.

At Woodriver we like to focus on a well-rounded program of technique, theory and repertoire. Whether you want to learn something new or perfect the songs of your favorite genre or artist, we’ll teach you the techniques the professionals applied to achieve that iconic sound.

Not only do we cover grading preparation but we also strongly encourage our students to indulge in self-expression and creativity in the hopes they form their own musical projects and develop their own ideas and creations.

Improvisation and experimenting is starting point for any musical idea and we believe once you have the right technique down, an understanding of theory on the fretboard and a few songs under your belt you’ll be writing your own in know time.
