I am 38 years old. I live in Kedron with my fiancée Gabby and our dog Mali (a super-friendly Staffy). I am currently studying a Masters of Music Vocal Pedagogy (voice teaching) at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. I perform as a soloist in bars, cafes, and private events (yes, I am a wedding singer!).
In my career as a musician I have written and produced two solo albums – Between the Colours, Jamberoo – and an EP – Pictures – as well as featuring on a number of local bands albums, such as The Gin Club, FAGAN, Brindle, and Fi Claus.
Throughout my career I have learned to play violin, guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, trumpet, harmonica and french horn. In my experience, the most challenging and rewarding instrument is the voice – there are no strings or valves to help you make sound, it all comes from within, which takes a significant level of concentration and dedication to control.
As a music teacher I have worked in a number of different environments and roles. I have been teaching vocals & guitar from my home space since 2010. I was part of the Instrumental Music Department at St Patrick’s College in Sandgate. I taught guitar at The Guitar Den in Caloundra. And I was a vocal mentor at the Independent Music Academy.
I advocate for investing in yourself, in your skills, in your songwriting. Talent will take you 10% of the way to success. The rest is through practice, perseverance, personality, and a dash of good luck.
