My goal as a music mentor is to impart my musical knowledge and experience onto other musicians, in the hope that they will improve their own instrumental or vocal skills and go on to use those skills to make music with others. I believe music is more than just playing songs, it is a way-of-life, a deeper state of consciousness, and a universal language that we all have the ability to engage in. Playing music should always be an enjoyable activity, and a personal expression of the individual.
I have a personal interest in teaching contemporary music styles - rock, pop, jazz and blues. Though I also cover musical theatre and basic classical technique. Furthermore, I have knowledge on how to produce vocal effects – growl, fry, and grit – as part of an extended vocal technique method.
I have training in vocal practices from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Griffith University. I have taught in private colleges, independent music studios, and I have a Blue Card for Working with Children License.
