Ljubomir Oblikov (Cello & Composition)

After graduating from Rousse Music High School and The Sofia Conservatorium, Ljubomir Oblikov departed his native Bulgaria and settled in Australia, where he completed a Graduate Diploma in Performance (Cello) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

He was employed successively by the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education (now University of Southern Queensland – Toowoomba), The Queensland Theatre Orchestra – Brisbane and Newington College – Sydney. Currently, Ljubomir holds the position of Coordinator of the Arts at Malek Fahd Islamic School – Sydney and is the founder of The Hills Chamber Ensemble.

Ljubomir has always been passionate about not only performing, but also writing music. He draws from many life experiences, including the Eastern European folkloric tradition combined with the Western Antecedent and Consequent Principle of harmonic treatment.
