Lincoln McKenzie is a professional guitarist and teacher who is committed to helping his students realise their potential as guitar players. A regular name in the Melbourne music scene, he now resides in Mount Coolum and draws upon 30+ years of playing experience and 15 years of teaching experience to help his students achieve their goals on the instrument. His commitment to music over this period has led to a deep understanding of many genres including: rock, pop, blues, funk, jazz, gypsy, folk and bluegrass.
Having studied privately with some of Australia’s top musicians including Stephen Magnusson, Chris Hale, James Sherlock and Richard Tedesco - Lincoln is dedicated to providing the same high level of tuition that he has received from his mentors.
Lincoln's lessons are designed with the individual in mind so are therefore suitable for any age group or level of proficiency on the instrument. He can help his students to learn songs by ear, improvise, compose, prepare for exams, learn a genre/style and improve sight-reading, theory and technique.
Lincoln teaches from his private studio which is equipped with a computer-based recording set-up, digital piano, amplification and high-speed internet access. The students can request to record lessons, learn about computer-based recording and/or create and record there own ideas in the lesson if they wish.
Lincoln holds a current WWC, has experience preparing students for ANZCA and AMEB exams and has taught guitar at some of Australia's top schools including The Knox School, Geelong Grammar School and Brighton Secondary College.
