Lincoln McKenzie is a professional guitarist and teacher who is committed to helping his students realise their potential as guitar players. A regular name in the Melbourne music scene, he draws upon 23+ years of playing experience and 10 years of teaching experience to help his students achieve their goals on the instrument. His commitment to music over this period has led to a deep understanding of many genres including: rock, pop, blues, funk, jazz, gypsy, folk and bluegrass.
Having studied privately with some of Australia’s top musicians including Stephen Magnusson, Chris Hale and Julien Wilson – Lincoln is dedicated to providing the same high level of tuition that he has received from his mentors.
The lessons are designed with the individual in mind and are therefore suitable for any age group or level of proficiency on the instrument. Lincoln can help his students to learn songs by ear, improvise, compose, prepare for exams, learn a genre/style and improve sight-reading, theory and technique.
Lincoln teaches from his private studio which is equipped with a computer-based recording set-up, digital piano, amplification and high-speed internet access. The students can request to record lessons, learn about computer-based recording and/or create and record there own ideas in the lesson if they wish.
Lincoln holds a current WWC, has experience preparing students for ANZCA and AMEB exams and is currently teaching at some of Victoria’s top primary and secondary schools.
