Louisa is a highly skilled and enthusiastic piano teacher who completed a dual degree in Music/Education from the University of New South Wales. She grew up as a Suzuki piano student and was classically trained by Nada Brissenden. Louisa has over 17 years experience playing the piano and has performed extensively throughout her career. She has performed as a soloist at various functions, recitals and corporate events including the Suzuki Graduation concerts which are held each year at the Sydney Opera House.
Louisa believes that every child has their own musical potential which can be fostered through proper guidance and careful instruction. She is a firm believer of Dr Suzuki’s philosophy that “musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue” (Suzuki Talent Education Association, 2015).
During piano lessons students will study the fundamental skills required in music learning such as sight-reading and music theory to compliment their playing. Louisa not only focuses on the technical side of piano playing but also encourages her students to develop musical expression. By doing this they are able to show greater enjoyment towards music. Students are less likely to feel pressured and are more likely to develop creatively as a pianist.
