Luís Tasso Santos
I am a music performance and composition student.
I have performed in places such as the Perth Concert Hall and Smetana Hall in Prague and I’m currently principal bassoon in the Western Australian Wind Symphony, a double bass with the Chamber Orchestra of St George’s College, principal bassoon and contrabassoon of the University of Western Australia Symphony Orchestra, and co-principal double bass and principal contrabassoon in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. I have also worked in musical pit orchestras playing flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and double bass.
I compose for many ensembles, but mostly for orchestra. I have also worked with chamber groups and orchestras performing my works.
My current composing projects include incorporating early instruments into contemporary works. I have also recently conducted a recital for four of my own works, three of which were for large orchestra.
