Lydia Tan

A violinist at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Lydia is a skilled and friendly teacher learning under Fintan Murphy. Lydia is driven to help beginners and intermediate musicians develop a love for music and believes that student-centred learning is the most effective approach.

Through private, in-person or online lessons, Lydia works closely with students to determine their goals and best modes of learning. Lydia draws on various curriculum materials and develops her own, depending on the student's needs, to hone their reading, aural, and technical skills. Basic theory is embedded within instrumental lessons, with the option of going into more depth through separate theory lessons, especially when preparing for exams.

Lydia also believes that parents/guardians play a vital role in a child's development and strongly encourages them to assist in their child's learning and instrumental practice.
