Manson Luk is a Sydney based drummer who is graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance (Drums) with Honours Acceptance. At the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he studied under the tutelage of mentors Dr Simon Barker, Dr Alexander Inman Hislop, Steve Lamante, James Waples and many more pioneers of jazz and world music.
Drawing from these experiences and extensive mentorships, Manson is an established drum tutor, with experience in teaching all age and skill levels since 2018. This includes primary school students, advanced students training for a bachelor’s degree in music performance, and adult students playing for leisure. This also includes various schools, including the position of on campus tutor and ensemble leader at the Mcdonald College of performing arts He produces unique pedagogy methods that cater specifically to each student to achieve their own personal goals, to develop an exciting passion and ambition in rhythm, and to create their own identity in music.
Manson has also been playing professionally throughout his degree and after graduating and is currently leading and participating in numerous musical projects. This includes national and international venues such as Sydney Opera House, ABC Studios, Church Street Studios and St Stephen’s Uniting Church, RPM Music (Tokyo) and Chez Trente Jazz Club (Hong Kong). In 2024 he launched his own band ZODIAC’s debut album "The Wild Wild East" under ABC, with a 2025 tour scheduled to Malaysia, Hong Kong and Japan (supported by Sound NSW).
