Marcella Felicia

  • Master of Music in Violin Performance

Marcella Felicia is a standout violinist and educator whose career has bridged the musical worlds of Indonesia and Australia since she turned professional at just 12 years old.

After years of intensive study under mentors like Matt Bruce and Finna Kurniawati, she earned a Master’s degree in Violin Performance with a scholarship for excellence. Marcella is known for her incredible versatility, moving easily from prestigious classical stages, like performing in the G20 Orchestra at Borobudur Temple, to modern collaborations, including a 2024 video project with the Chinese-Icelandic star Laufey. In a major move to help shape the future of the local scene, she founded Efrata Strings in 2024, creating a new platform for high-quality string music that reaches beyond the traditional concert hall.

Deeply involved in cultural diplomacy, Marcella has become a go-to performer for world premieres and international celebrations. She has a long-standing creative partnership with the renowned composer Ananda Sukarlan, recently performing his work Findolandesia to mark 70 years of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Finland, as well as debuting his Two Australian Songs in Sydney. Her experience is truly global, having studied at the Singapore Violin Festival under masters from Russia and Bulgaria while collaborating with icons like Sam Haywood and Prof. Nigel Clayton. Whether she is leading from the front with the Sydney Youth Orchestra or mentoring the next generation of students, Marcella’s work with Efrata Strings and her international recitals continue to knit the Australian and Indonesian music communities closer together.
