Hi! I’ve been teaching and playing drums for over 10 years, and I’m dedicated to helping students achieve their individual goals. Since completing a Bachelor of Music Performance on drum kit from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2013, I’ve been dedicating my time to teaching and performing around Australia and internationally.
I can teach one on one private lessons for all ages and levels of experience, from beginner through to advanced. Group lessons for 2 to 3 students are also available.
Lessons cover essential elements of playing drum kit and music including:
Technique – Relaxed hand technique
Time Feel – Developing a strong time feel and rhythmic pulse
Improvising – Playing solos and fills around the drum kit
Repertoire – Learning songs and playing along with recordings
Theory – Reading notated music
Aural – Developing aural skills, being able to learn songs by ear.
Students have the option of enrolling for AMEB CPM (Contemporary Popular Music) drum exams. The AMEB CPM syllabus helps drummers adapt to a range of music including rock, blues, jazz, funk, while also teaching students essential drumming techniques and theory. In 20016, I was awarded the highest points for year 12 TCE at Newstead College in Tasmania.
Lessons are held at my studio in Preston, close to the following suburbs:
I can also travel to you if it is within 5kms of the area, at $40 per half hour and $75 per hour.
