I am a classically trained pianist with over 30 years teaching experience.
After gaining my Bachelor of Music degree from the Canberra School of Music, I moved to Vienna to further my musical studies. Upon returning to Australia in 2000, I began teaching for the pre-tertiary department at the ANU School of Music and later also taught at tertiary level. I worked there for well over a decade.
I was the winner of the AMEB shield, which is awarded to the teacher who gains the best exam results throughout the ACT and NSW, for 2012. Since then, I have regularly received Certificates of Distinction from the AMEB, most recently for both the Prelim to 6th Grade and the 7th to Licentiate categories for the 2022 teaching year.
My main teaching focus is to help my students develop a love of music and to help them build a solid technical foundation which will enable them to play musically and with ease at advanced levels. I happily prepare students for AMEB exams but do not believe that this should be the main focus in learning piano, but rather one of many musical goals to work towards.
My students have consistently won many prizes in various competitions and perform regularly in concerts.
I teach from my well equipped studio in Pearce, which is built in the style of a European music salon. I have two high quality grand pianos, which greatly enhances lesson efficiency.
You are most welcome to contact me by phone or email to arrange an initial interview. I understand that it is important to find a good student/teacher match, and I love to try and help students find a teacher who is right for them.
