I am a violinist who has been teaching for over 10 years and I've thoroughly enjoyed helping my students foster an appreciation for music and guiding them towards their musical goals.
I am assistant to violinist and pedagogue, Evgeny Sorkin of the Rising Stars Program. I completed my Masters and Bachelors at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Professor Alice Waten.
I am currently teaching at Meriden and MLC School, and have a private teaching studio at my home in Ashfield. My students participate in various programs such as Sydney Conservatorium's Rising Stars and SYO. They have also been awarded full music scholarships at Sydney's private schools as well as multiple prizes in Eisteddfods.
I perform with Opera Australia and have I also perform regularly as a chamber musician in the Ash Quartet, both nationally and internationally. My group was a finalist for the Queensland International Chamber music Competition in 2019, and won first prize in the Chamber Music division of the Verao Classico Music festival in Lisbon that same year. The quartet is currently holding the Westheimer String Quartet Fellowship at the Sydney Conservatorium.
My teaching style is flexible depending on the individual and what they hope to achieve. I always hope to pass on enthusiasm for the violin and music to my students in my teaching; I also try my best to give my students a strong technical foundation and encourage them to foster good practise habits and self discipline. Regardless of if your goals are to play for fun or If you’d like to be prepared as well as possible for exams, I will try help my best to help you with yours goals and have an enjoyable time!
I teach students of all ages, from toddlers to adults (including adult beginners) and from the very preliminary level to highly advanced (AMus/Lmus). In addition to regular violin lessons, I also offer help with:
– AMEB Examinations (including ear training and general knowledge)
– Scholarship auditions and Competitions
– HSC Examinations
– Any other audition material (School Orchestra, SYO etc)
I organise a studio concert once a term because I believe it is important for the development of budding musicians to have performance opportunities and students also get to showcase what they’ve learnt!
I teach from my home in Ashfield. I offer a free half hour trial lesson to begin with all my students. $60 for 30 minutes, $85 for 45 minutes, $110 for 60 minutes.
I teach according to the school term (will begin again in the last week of January) and can also be available for extra lessons during the holidays.
