Maryanne believes in bringing music into the fabric of everyday Australian life, be it playing at home, sharing Christmas carols with family or performing at the Sydney Opera House.
She regularly holds at-home concerts featuring prominent Sydney musicians to promote this concept, and is a an active member of the NSW Harp Society.
Her formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Music Studies and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, majoring in harp and German, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Psychology.
Maryanne has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House, the Adelaide Town Hall and on radio, amongst others. Maryanne has appeared as a soloist at numerous events for corporate clients such as AMP Capitol Investors, The University of Sydney, Biddulph and Salenger Solicitors and more. Maryanne also enjoys performing at wedding celebrations and parties. Maryanne has also won several first places at the Sydney Harp Eisteddfod.
Much of Maryanne’s approach at the harp has been influenced by Louise Johnson (formerly of Sydney Symphony). Another influence on Maryanne’s harp playing was intensive summer camps studying with Alice Giles, as well as intensive harp study with renowned Heidi Lehwalder in the United States.
Maryanne’s teaching style is student-centric, coaching students in a supportive environment to unlock talent and inspire musicianship. Maryanne is a specialist in adult education, holding the TAE (Cert IV Training and Assessment), the industry standard for adult education. She works with students of all ages and customises the teaching approach to the individual student’s learning goals.
