Hello my name is Matt Grech and I have been playing the saxophone for over 20 years.
I have been teaching for 5 years and have had students of all ages ranging from 7 years old to 50 years old in primary, secondary and tertiary education levels of playing.
I graduated with B Mus from Australian Institute of Music with a partial scholarship, having learnt my craft and studied under some of the most respected sax teachers in Sydney. I have played in school concert, stage jazz and symphonic ensembles and played professionally with big bands, small jazz bands, rock and other styles.
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated saxophone teacher and believe that I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me.
Students get more out of playing what they enjoy, so lessons are tailored to each students’ interests to help them reach their goals. Students will often make requests to learn specific songs which I can incorporate into the lessons.
Styles covered range from Jazz to classical to rock to funk and everything in between.
Lessons can be tailored for music exams or audition preparation, being in a band or ensemble or just having a good time.
I also have experience in sound recording and have my own equipment to record. This offers a unique perspective that allows for students to hear their own sound and performances.
