Matthew Garvie

Piano lessons

Matthew is an actively performing classical pianist with a passion for teaching music. Having completed his Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours and the University Medal in 2021 through the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, he is now a current music at the Australian National Academy of Music.

Matthew has a passion for teaching with a particular interest in developing a sustainable piano technique, ease of playing and developing strong musical characters.

He also believes adaptability as a teacher is important and strives to tailor the educational experience to each individual student’s needs.

Students of all ages and skill levels are welcome!

Lessons will include:

• The laying of strong technique foundations which promote healthy and sustainable playing
• Developing an understanding of musical concepts, delivered in a variety of ways and tailored to each student
• Basic aural and theory training
• (Optional) Australian Music Association Board (AMEB) exam preparation
  o Lessons in preparation for AMEB theory exams are also available

Matthew is available for travel to:
