Matthew Stuart-Street – Cellist & Teacher
Matthew Stuart-Street is a Brisbane-based cellist and dedicated teacher, known for his expressive playing and tailored teaching approach. A 2022 Raymond Gillmore Scholarship recipient, Matthew performed the Henri Casadesus Cello Concerto with the Redlands Sinfonia, under the direction of György Deri.
Raised in a musical family in Mount Isa, Matthew began cello at age five and studied for over a decade with Matthew Kinmont. He has won multiple eisteddfods, completed his CMus in 2020, and led ensembles at Mansfield State High School and Grammar Fest.
Currently completing a Bachelor of Music in performance, Matthew is active in Brisbane’s chamber music scene and teaches students across Carina, South Bank, and surrounding suburbs. He specializes in helping taller players develop ergonomic, efficient technique and supports students working toward AMEB exams and personal goals.
Matthew’s passion lies in both performing and nurturing the next generation of cellists.
