Maye Gill

Manor Vale House School of Music was established by Maye Gill in January 2008 and relocated to Gembrook in 2011.

Maye studied at Yamaha School of Music from the age of 3 and was quick to develop ‘perfect pitch,' graduating from Yamaha at just 13 yrs of age. Continuing her piano studies through expert private tuition from Margaret O’Grady and Roger Heagney, Maye continued to advance both practically and theoretically and by 2007, Maye’s university studies would see her complete her AMUSA level qualification in piano studies. Maye has been teaching since 2006 and in this time, has taught hundreds of students of all ages (from 3 and a half to 76 years old), of varying backgrounds and learning abilities.

Maye teaches in a patient, positive and encouraging manner so that students feel they can approach her about anything they are struggling to understand, without worrying about being judged. Maye would rather explain concepts repeatedly and in a myriad of ways, so that her students feel confident and happy knowing they are well equipped with a solid musical foundation. This prevents issues from 'snowballing.' Maye's music theory games and aural training activities are incorporated into most lessons to keep lessons interesting and brains actively working.
Engaging children through a variety of activities and experiences results in enhanced consolidation and retention of information as well as a well-rounded music education.

Maye tailors her lessons to each of her many students and derives great satisfaction from seeing them grow and become ‘musically free’ pianists.

Maye has a current Working With Children Check and her school offers a relaxed, air conditioned home studio environment.
