Japanese Taiko Drumming is a form of musical performance art that combines rhythm, movement and spirit.
Hiro & Mayu Akiba, founding members of Byron Taiko have been performing regularly at Byron Bay’s local schools and public events from 2012, sharing and promoting Japanese experiences and understanding of cultural diversity.
Performances showcase Samurai displays, Okinawan folk music, a roving street band and feature authentic Taiko drums, Bamboo flute and Shamisen(a Japanese stringed instrument).

The sound of the taiko could be heard as part of everyday Japanese life for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. Its origins lie deeply embedded in Japanese culture.
The Byron Taiko Package delivers Japanese authentic music, lantern decorations and food catering to bring a Japanese atmosphere to you. We can design a package for your event, Private party, team building event, school workshop, corporate event or festival.

Byron Taiko are the event organizers for "Japanese Festival Byron Bay" a free entry annual community event. We also run weekly taiko drum lessons in Byron Bay.
