"Music is for everyone"
Melissa Black is a passionate and highly recognised Kodaly Music Educator, specialising in Primary Music Education. Melissa has experience in Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary contexts across Public and Private sectors in New South Wales and Queensland, currently working as a classroom music specialist and conductor.
Studying at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, Melissa has taught students of all levels for over 12 years. Using the AMEB syllabus, these students have gone on to receive outstanding results through thorough preparation with accurate technique and musicianship.
Lessons are developmental and made enjoyable, so that students enjoy presenting their pieces each week. Students work at a speed appropriate to them so that they see their instrument as a joyful part of their life and see how their effort and practise results in achievement. Melissa will introduce all students to the many opportunities offered through learning an instrument.
Melissa has extensive experience performing and conducting in small and large ensembles. She has tutored clarinet and saxophone students since 2006 and teaches all ages and abilities, including preparation and accompaniment for HSC/QCE performance exams. Melissa has tutored/conducted for a number of schools, including the NSW Arts Unit, and adjudicates/examines Woodwind and Brass practical performance exams and eisteddfods. In her free time, Melissa can be found performing for musical societies and performing in the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra.
