I have many years of professional experience teaching piano, theory and composition. I teach a wide range of ages and abilities, from beginner through to advanced level. I am passionate about encouraging a love of music and inspiring my students to develop their musical and technical skills. Tuition will be tailored to you and what you would like to achieve.
I have several years of experience preparing students for AMEB, ABRSM and Trinity examinations in Australia and the UK. I hold a Bachelor of Music from the Conservatorium of Melbourne and a Masters with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. I have also worked as an accompanist for ABRSM and Trinity examinations.
I am able to travel to students' homes in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I welcome students of all levels and ages and believe you are never too old to enjoy learning an instrument. Please get in touch if you would like further information or to arrange a trial lesson. My rate is $80 per hour.
"Melissa combines both great subject knowledge with a calm and friendly style of teaching; this has proved inspirational and has helped my daughter to re-develop a love of playing the piano. She is professional, reliable and punctual and I would highly recommend!" Vicky McAffer, parent of piano student from 2016-18
"We have been delighted with the progress that Beatrice has made. Melissa has been the best piano teacher we have had and we are very sorry that we lost her when she moved back to Australia. Melissa has taught Beatrice both piano and theory. In both subjects Melissa shows a good attention to detail as well a sympathetic approach. Throughout our time with Melissa not only was she a good teacher, but she was an effective communicator and utterly and entirely trustworthy." Professor John Derrick, parent of piano student from 2016-18
