Well regarded music teacher, teaching in several high profile schools, with a record of achieving good results with students.
Melissa studied Jazz as a saxophonist at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, while sidelining with gigs and teaching, graduating in 1996.
On completion of her degree, Melissa decided to broaden her experiences as a musician and moved to Melbourne, Victoria and was soon working freelance for small ensembles in various genres and with jazz orchestras including the Norm Harris Big Band, and the Sunrise Big Band. During this time she also recorded several projects for Melbourne musicians.
In a short time, Melissa became the musical director for Victorian Jazz Orchestra and through this association performed with & acted as musical director for Rhonda Burchmore. Whilst living in Melbourne, she established the established the Melissa Skinner Trio, which worked regularly at venues around Melbourne.
In 2001 Melissa returned to Perth. Currently, she is working freelance gigs and teaching both privately and at a secondary level. Since returning to Perth, performances have included

Melissa has written two saxophone tutorial books.
