I have extensive experience as a flautist, flute teacher, and composer. I hold a DipMus (flute performance), BA (Hons) (majoring in music composition), and an MA (Music Composition). Places of study include the Canberra School of Music, Flinders St. School of Music, and Monash University.
My flute teachers have included Virginia Taylor, Elizabeth Koch and Catherine Way and I've taken part in masterclasses with Margaret Crawford and Aurele Nicolet.
I've taught the flute to students of all ages, including individuals and groups. I welcome mature-age students and people who are returning to the flute after several years' absence. I also offer tuition in aural and theory, which are both essential in rounding out instrument lessons.
As a professional composer, I am able to give tuition to other composers, spanning a range of techniques, styles and approaches.
As a flautist I've performed with Auricle new music ensemble, Acme New Music Co., Flute and Harp duo with harpist Liesl Warner and various other musicians and ensembles.
I currently teach in Clunes, which is within half an hour of both Ballarat and Daylesford, and fifteen minutes from Creswick.
