More than 20 years experience as a freelance composer, including over 60 performances by local new music ensembles and overseas (Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, London), and broadcasts on national and regional radio programs (ABC Classic FM, 5UV, ABC Radio National). I hold a first class honours degree in composition (BA) and have completed a Masters degree in composition (awarded a High Distinction). I have written music in a wide range of styles, from experimental to twelve tone, and electroacoustic music.
Feminist composition and research is my specialty and I work with text, the voice, instruments, acoustic and environmental sounds.
I was awarded an Arts Victoria development grant to work on a new electroacoustic piece in 2008.
In 2007 I designed and lectured a subject on experimental styles of composition at Monash University.
In 2008 a work of mine, 15 Seconds, was performed in Beijing, China, as part of the International Congress on Women in Music.
In 2013-14 my work Pope Joan was exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria as part of Melbourne Now, which attracted more than 750,000 visitors.
I currently teach in Clunes, which is within half an hour of both Ballarat and Daylesford, and fifteen minutes from Creswick.
