Michael Gibson

I am a classically trained, freelance performing cellist and cello teacher currently based in Coorparoo, Brisbane. As a performer I play regularly with Brisbane ensembles such as the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Camerata, Ensemble Cherubim and Ensemble Chromatica (Candlelight).

I have experience preparing students for AMEB exams, youth orchestra auditions and assisting with repertoire for the state schools instrumental music program. I always have a direction in mind for each of my students to help them improve, but I’m also very flexible in my approach, as I’m fully aware that everyone learns in different ways.

In addition to my private studio teaching, I have previously taught at St Peter’s Springfield, St John’s Anglican College, Westside Christian College, Good News Lutheran School and Gymnasium Altona (Hamburg, Germany).

I hold my Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, completed in 2020 from the Queensland Conservatorium and undertook further postgraduate study in Hamburg, Germany.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or enquires.
