I am a classically trained, freelance performing cellist and cello teacher currently based in Coorparoo, Brisbane. As a performer I play regularly with Brisbane ensembles such as the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Camerata, Ensemble Cherubim and Ensemble Chromatica. After nearly a decade of teaching cello, I have found a strong interest and enthusiasm in pedagogy, which is in itself a kind of art form. It is my strong belief that everyone has the potential to gain satisfaction and enjoyment from playing the cello, given the right guidance.
I have experience preparing students for AMEB exams, youth orchestra auditions and assisting with repertoire for the state schools instrumental music program. I always have a direction in mind for each of my students to help them improve, but I’m also very flexible in my approach, as I’m fully aware that everyone learns in different ways.
In addition to my private studio teaching, I currently teach at St Peter’s Lutheran Springfield, and have previously taught at St John’s Anglican College, Westside Christian College, Good News Lutheran School and Gymnasium Altona (Hamburg, Germany).
My previous teachers have included Tanja Tetzlaff, Trish Dean, Meta Weiss and Melissa Dineen, and I hold my Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, completed in 2020 from the Queensland Conservatorium.
