Michelle Huang

Michelle is an experienced musician, mentor based on the Gold Coast. Originally from overseas, she moved to Australia at nine and found her voice through music long before she found it in English.

She plays both piano and cello, spanning classical, jazz and popular styles. Currently, she holds the AMEB Licentiate Diploma, one the highest practical music qualification in Australia, alongside the Associate Diploma and a national finalist result in the Oz Schools Instrumental Championships. She also holds a AMEB Grade 8 cello Honours.

But achievements only tell half the story. Michelle is driven by improvement, which is not for the sake of titles, but because she genuinely loves getting better at things and helping others do the same. She mentors younger musicians, conducts a primary school orchestra, and recently founded Melodies for Memories, an initiative bringing free live music to aged care residents across the Gold Coast.

She's proactive, hardworking and caring, the kind of person who doesn't wait to be asked before starting something. Whether it's organising a recital for fellow young musicians, accompanying a singer who needs a pianist, or learning a setlist of golden-era classics for elderly residents she hasn't met yet, she shows up and gives everything she has.

Above all, she believes music should be joyful not only for the person playing it but also for the people hearing it.
