SKYPE GUITAR LESSONS AVAILABLE!
Do you aspire to play your favourite songs for your own enjoyment, or get together with your friends or family for a jam, or maybe you’d like to jump up on stage and perform before a live audience? Has the idea of taking guitar lessons been holding you back? Because I'd love to be the one to help you reach your goals.
My intent is to make the learning process fun. These music lessons will be at your own pace and stress-free, and I’ll be there to nurture you along your musical journey.
I teach in Taringa and offer lessons for everyone from absolute beginners to artists who want to refine their skill; I also offer online guitar lessons. Whether you want to improve on your songwriting, overhaul your technique, learn theory or get ready for an audition, I’ll deliver personalised lessons and a home practice plan to get you to where you want to go.
I’m passionate about setting my students up with a solid foundation whilst simultaneously teaching you your favourite songs. We'll cover healthy hand posture, how to hold the pick, essential rhythm guitar techniques and strumming patterns, chords, how to read tablature, basic scales, picking and fingerpicking techniques. For the adventurous – traditional music notation, moveable scale forms, theory that you’ll need to know for lead soloing and songwriting, and how to create and improvise solos.
I can teach you to teach yourself using internet resources, or we can unlock all of the mysteries of the fret board together!
Besides my 10 years of teaching guitar, I’m no stranger to the music scene. I’ve performed on the main stages of both Splendour in the Grass and QPAC Concert Hall, and I’m also a regular at Woodford Folk Festival. Through touring across Australia and beyond I’ve shared the stage with some amazing musicians, from international artists Angelo Debarre and Andreas Oberg, to local legends Ewan Mackenzie and The Grates.
I love and teach all kinds of music – from rock, pop, jazz and folk, to samba, bossa nova, Bollywood hits and more. During time in Paris I was lucky enough to perform alongside some of the best musicians in the gypsy jazz (jazz manouche) genre.
I’ve been formally trained and hold a Bachelor of Music Studies (world music/guitar), Advanced Diploma of Music (jazz guitar), a Cert IV Training and Assessment and a Blue Card.
Get in touch and let me know what music you’re into and what your schedule is like, and we’ll sort out a lesson time. If you’re a beginner and you don’t have a guitar yet, I can definitely provide some advice.
I look forward to teaching you!
