Offering: Comfortable, home music lessons for Piano, Guitar, Choral Voice, Songwriting, Composition, and Music Theory, as well as piano accompaniment for exams and performances.
Background: Kalika studied piano, music theory, and pedagogy at the University of Queensland and the University of New England. Her knowledge ranges from classical to contemporary styles, whilst also possessing skills in songwriting and composition. Currently, she is completing a Master of Primary Education through the University of New England.
Teaching since 2009, Kalika is very familiar with the AMEB system, and has helped many of her students undertake the graded exams (AMEB Piano & Piano for Leisure grades 1-8) with great success. Her teaching style has been praised for being fun, engaging, and challenging, as she understands the importance of meeting the needs of each student, and works to ensure that lessons are tailored accordingly.
Kalika's style has proven successful for primary-aged children, as well as teen, adult, and middle-aged learners. No one is too old to realise their dreams of being a musician, and so Kalika hopes to encourage those who have long put off learning the piano to finally enter into the music scene.
The nature of lessons are one-to-one, and prospective clients can choose to have their lessons via Skype, or at her home studio.
Bilingual, Kalika can give lessons in both English and Japanese, if there is a language barrier.
Lesson and accompaniment pricing: $70 per hour, or $35 per half hour. Sibling discounts apply for two or more children: $60 per hour for two, and $55 per hour for three.
The waiting, travel time, and exam time are also accounted for in the total.
