Learning anything is an inherently vulnerable act. Learning singing in particular can feel very exposing, and the idea of performing in front of others can be extremely anxiety inducing.
Having studied music for over 25 years and taught for over seven, I’ve seen firsthand how rewarding persevering through these barriers in a nurturing environment can be. This can create ripple effects of confidence and engagement in other areas of life too. I’ve experienced significant performance anxiety throughout my music career, as such it has become vitally important to me that my students feel safe, inspired and heard. My approach draws on techniques and tools from the breadth of my education and experimentation to break down and understand your unique experience of music and sound.

My passion lies in empowering and fostering independence in musicians of all levels by encouraging self-awareness and teaching technical music skills in engaging and effective ways. Every question (and sound) is welcome. I am confident that we will be able to achieve your musical goals, be they gaining confidence for late-night karaoke sessions or to the standard of professional industry performances.
My qualifications include an Advanced Diploma – Music Artist Industry, Certificate IV - Jazz Music, and Grade 5 ABRSM Theory. In 2020 I completed my fourth and final Honours year of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts’ Bachelor of Music (Contemporary) specialising in songwriting, music production, and vocal performance. Now halfway through a two-year Master of Arts Screen: Music at the Australian Film Television and Radio School in NSW, I am excited to be bringing even further industry expertise to my expanding teaching palette.

Lessons are tailored to your musical interests, goals, and skill level. Lessons can focus solely on application and technique, or a combination, of the following: singing, songwriting, performance and performance anxiety, music theory, composition, arranging, film scoring, beginner piano, the creative process, music production and recording. You are welcome to specify your particular area(s) of interest during the booking process, or simply discuss with me during our lesson. If you have other learning interests that go beyond the scope of these areas, please get in touch!
