Neil Kelly

Hi & welcome to Neil Kelly Music. I teach students of all standards and backgrounds. I love to compose and play guitar/bass in a wide range of styles.
Adult beginners/refreshers welcome!

Teaching experience:
I was a full-time lecturer in music at Latrobe University for over 10 years and have taught privately since 2001. I have 40 years experience as a professional performer, composer, recording musician/producer and part-time instrumental teacher. I have a well equipped teaching/composition studio and a professional recording studio (also in Northcote) for students interested in developing this aspect of their music. I can teach AMEB in guitar, theory and composition and also tutor tertiary music students. However, I am very happy teaching committed beginners.

Experience as a Musician:
Bands/artists played with include Bo Diddley, Le Club Foote, Lucie Thorne, many international tours with Slave Pianos, Missiles, Z-Cars, and studio session work as guitarist and bass player (& ukulele, mandolin, banjo, etc). I've produced recordings at Run Stop Sound by many local artists including Yi-Lynn, Lasca Dry, Jim Kane, Jordie Lane, Andy Armiger, Graeme Leak, The Sockettes, Herr Hauptmann, Slave Pianos, Adi Sappir & Sex on Toast.

My goal is to bring out the best in the music student & to share the joy of music making.

I am now teaching at my studio in Northcote. Feel free to call or text and we can work out a plan that's right for you.
