Nicky has many years of teaching and outreach experience both in Australia and the UK. She has given masterclasses and tutored groups of all ages and abilities and was awarded the prize for outstanding educational outreach by the Worshipful Company of Musicians (UK).

She currently teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Australian Institute of Music, where she is an Academic (flute) Lecturer and at various schools throughout Sydney. She enjoys preparing students for AMEB exams, recitals, school assessments and teaching those learning just for fun. To complement her teaching she is currently studying to become a BodyMinded Practitioner, a course designed for teachers to help enhance a student’s playing using elements of the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping.

In 2016, she had a contract with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, following her year as a fellow in 2015. Prior to this, she studied at the Royal College of Music (London) and was the receipt of the All Flutes Plus prize. During her time abroad, she was the co-principal of Southbank Sinfonia (2014), the principal flute of the Band of the Royal Yeomanry and the flautist in the Dr K Sextet, specialising in contemporary music.

She has also played with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the English National Ballet, Covent Garden Soloists Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Macao Orchestra.
