Nigel Foote is one of Australia's most experienced guitar teachers. Nigel has taught traditional and contemporary folk-blues guitar styles at home in the Blue Mountains NSW since 1983, and also for the Mitchell Conservatorium of Music, and schools in the region.
In 2014, Nigel formed Blue Mountains Guitar School (in Blackheath) and ran it for ten years. He closed the school at the end of 2024 to focus more time on his songwriting and other projects, and has since reverted to teaching guitar under his own name.
Nigel teaches traditional and contemporary styles common to many of the world's finest artists: Mississippi John Hurt, Reverend Gary Davis, Doc Watson, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leo Kottke, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Gillian Welch, Mike McClellan, Paul Kelly, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift... the list is endless.
Nigel has recorded three albums and won a number of songwriting awards, including two PATER Awards and the Rudy Brandsma Award. He has also written children's songs for ABC Music.
