Online lessons available - one free session
I would like to offer all new students a free online lesson as we come to grips with the reality we now live in.
I have a dual webcam setup, one showing my side profile (to demonstrate good posture and arm movements), one overhead (to demonstrate wrist movements and fingerings).
Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0401 992 913 to arrange for a lesson!
Ed began piano lessons at the age of 4 and completed ABRSM Grade 8 in Piano at the age of 12. He went on to join the renowned Hwa Chong Choir at age 17, taking on the role of Assistant Conductor a year later.
In 2014, Ed joined the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore where he studied piano performance with the accomplished pianist Lena Ching, composition with renowned local composer Dr. Zechariah Goh, and conducting with Cultural Medallion winner, Maestro Lim Yau.
Prior to his relocation to Melbourne, Ed was the Resident Conductor of Hwa Chong Voices, an appointment he assumed since 2008. He has also served as resident conductor to the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Anderson Secondary School choir and Assumption English School Choir. Under his direction, the choirs have earned Gold and Silver awards in the Singapore Youth Festival and the Singapore International Choral Festival in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
In 2017, Ed graduated with a Master of Music (Performance Teaching) degree at the University of Melbourne, having studied the piano under the guidance of distinguished concert pianist Janine Sowden. He is also an active member of Hamer Singers, an a cappella choir under the direction of Jonathan Grieves-Smith, and works with Grace Notes Singers, an excellent all-female choir conducted by Jan Goodall, as an accompanist.
Ed is passionate about introducing budding musicians into the wondrous world of music, and his eclectic interests in the different facets of music allow him to approach music education in an interesting and holistic manner.
