Patrick Lyons is a bassist, composer and teacher residing in Melbourne. He regularly performs across Australia at festivals, concert halls, markets, pubs and has even performed on a pirate ship.
He specialises in double bass and electric bass and has played in rock bands, symphony orchestras, chamber groups, jazz trios, electronic groups and more.
As he became accomplished in traditional genres of music, Patrick became more interested in pushing the boundaries of double bass integrating new techniques in folk/gypsy/rock music which was integrated into a VCE subject and approved by VCAA. His research at Monash University on electric bass lead him to integrate new playing ideas such as turning the role of electric bass into a dominant feature within a modern band/ensemble.
He is also an enthusiastic and passionate educator with 4 studio locations across Melbourne. He has taught beginners and professionals alike. He is always willing to help those who wish to learn.
“Patrick Lyons is one amazing Bassist. Not just in terms of the musicality and professionalism that he brings to his work but also his personhood and character.”
